Saturday the 18th of January was a very special day for the whole hospital community.
David Beckham, world renouned football player and ambassador for the UNICEF, visited our hospital during his trip to Sierra Leone.
David Beckham visited the TFC where he spent several hours. He was very interested in the various aspects of the treatments and very touched by the personnal stories of each child. He seemed very much at ease with the children and spoke extensively with the medical staff.

After his visit to the TFC, David Beckham even played football with two of the local teams. Their dream became reality for these children who play this sport wearing shoes that have been made out of plastic bottles.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Beckham and Mr. Geert Cappelaere, the UNICEF representative congratulated us for our work and promised to give a response to our program. We feel honored that such a small rural african hospital played such a large role in the new UNICEF campaign. We can only hope that the children of Sierra Leone will be the real beneficiaries of this visit. |
