At the beginning of May, Kimberly van Hulst arrived in Sierra Leone for a 4 month mission. Kimberly is an experienced mid-wife who helped set up the maternity ward that recently opened in the hospital of Magbenteh.
The main tasks of Kimberly were to train the local mid-wives, to develop and put into application rules, and to give advice on the organisational aspects of a maternity ward. The first birth took place during Kimberly's first working day. It was a little girl who was named Kimberly. It is the custom in Sierra Leone to give the name of the persone who helped deliver the baby to the baby. |
