The Poliomyelitis Victims Association (PVA) in Magbenteh asked for help from SSLDF. The PVA has 220 members and a project to construct a village for the poliomyelitis victims with housing for these people, workshops, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens and a laundrette, with water and electricity.
SSLDF already bought a piece of land for this project in 2002. We would like to help them build the housing for 100 of their members who would be living permanently in the village. At the beginning of 2009, SSLDF recieved a donation that allowed us to start the construction. In March 2009, we found a water source on the land. This will facilitate the advancement of this project enormously. A 10 meter deep well has already been dug.
We hope to find the funding we need to complete the construction by adding a workshop so that the members of the association can work as tailors, cobblers, carpenters, etc. to be able to earn a living. |
