The event was opened by the Guest of Honour, Bombali District Chairman Mr Koroma, who spoke passionately about the quality of education and opportunities the school is providing. Followed by the formalities of prayer both Christian and Islamic, and the singing of national anthem whilst the national flag was raised, completed with the passing of the ‘Olympic Torch’ from the Physical Health Association to a representative of each house.

Despite the 40-degree heat, they showed inspirational levels of energy and enthusiasm. For the majority of the students, this was the first time they have participated in a programme of this kind. Events included a range of athletics: running; high-jump; long-jump, as well as musical chairs; carrying the baby; lime and spoon and needle and thread.

Hundreds of spectators from the surrounding communities came to watch as the students competed. At the end of the event red house was declared the winner with blue house in close second!
