This year has begun with many exciting events in the Swiss Sierra Leone Development Foundation including a visit from a non-profit organization, Melqosh Mission International. The founder and CEO Faith Okrafo-Smart reached out to our organization passionate in her efforts to procure a health care facility in order to provide a free clinical workshop to civil war amputee victims.

Melqosh Mission International has a strong focus on Sierra Leone amputees affected by the civil war, officially beginning March 23, 1991, raging for many years and eventually ending January 18, 2002. The workshop was held for war victims, who often feel marginalized and pushed aside. While the patients attended the workshop they received, blood screening for diabetes, a visit to our Hospital’s CHO L’appel, and if patients wanted, they received a physio therapy session. The organization also provided medicines as well as transportation for the patients to come to and from the hospital.

This was a great collaboration with an amazing organization and we hope to not only support your mission and vision but also work  closely together in the future for a common goal.

The Magbenteh Community and People of Sierra Leone Thank You.!
