On Tuesday 31st October, the 223 children from the Action Swiss Sponsorship Programme received a bag of rice to take home. With the cost of food items constantly increasing due to the economic instability of the country, the rice will serve as a temporary supplement to relieve some financial pressure on the children’s families.
The children currently attend schools across Bombali District and Freetown with 59 at Primary School level; 73 at Junior Secondary School level; and 91 at Secondary School level.
The Action Swiss Sponsorship Programme began in 1988 when Mr Harald Pfieffer, the Founder of SSLDF, first came to Masanga Village, Sierra Leone. The aim of the project is to assist vulnerable families who cannot afford to send their children to school.
